Why is juicing better than eating it whole? (e.g. an organic carrot)
Many people have said to me why do you juice, why waste the other valuable parts of the fruit/veg. I have almost forgotten the answer because in some ways it does not make sense except to say that it is easier to absorb the juice and there is no wastage of valuable nutrients, what do you think, and is it scientifically proven that juicing is better? I would be grateful for help on this one! All the best Carol
I do own a juicer a Samson Ultra, twin gears now about 4 years old and in good working order.
From Sara:Hi Carol, this is a very common question I get. I advocate juicing here mainly for health reasons. You are right that juices provide best assimilation of all the high quality nutrients that feed our cells. No doubt fiber is important in our diet, which is why I always encourage EATING fruits/vegetables as well as DRINKING fresh juices.
When you eat a carrot, for example, your body may absorb only a very small percentage of the nutrients. However, when you drink of its juice your body absorbs almost ALL of the nutrients. These are the nutrients that we are after, that help to repair, heal, and nourish damaged or weak cells.
It may not be scientifically proven that juicing is better, but people who practice daily juicing can vouch for its effectiveness and its healing properties.
