What is your opinion of the Norwalk juicer?

The Ultimate Norwalk Juicer 275

I currently own a Breville Juice Fountain Elite (the exact same model Martha Stewart uses) and I really enjoy it, but I am extremely interested in getting a Norwalk 275. The only prohibitive factor is the price. Is the Norwalk worth it? Any other hydraulic press juicers you can recommend?

Dear Trevor,

The Norwalk Juicer 275 is indeed a very impressive machine that comes with an "impressive" price tag! :)

It really depends on what you're looking for. If you're new to juicing then this juicer might be an "overkill". It is easy to get over-enthusiastic and wanting to go for the "best". And the Norwalk Juicer is the "ultimate". Consider what's important for you.

If you're an avid juicer, juice in huge amount every day, quality is important to you, budget is not a problem, then this juicer is outstanding.

Please check out my page on this site about the Norwalk Juicer. Only downside I can think of for not buying the machine (besides the prohibitive price), would be because I love juicing greens and it would be a little bit tricky, for example to juice just wheatgrass.

Looking at the two-part juicing process, it is very unlike the conventional juicing where you just throw everything in and wait for the juices to flow out. Watch the video on that page and see if you would mind doing this every time you want to juice. It takes some getting used to the idea, but the juice yield and quality are unequalled!

A great advantage though, is of course that to save you on washing up time, you can extract your juices in big quantity and store them in air-tight containers in your refrigerator for up to three days without much loss of quality, taste and nutrients.

Since you're using a centrifugal juicer, I suggest you upgrade to a gear juicer first. The price is only about one tenth of the price of the Norwalk and it already gives you excellent taste/quality over a centrifugal juicer.
