Potato a nasty food?

Hello Sara, I was delighted to come across this website and all the juicing information listed here. I have been using vegetable juices for a long time, mainly, carrot-celery juice, but am more interested now in trying some new ones, especially with beets.
What I really wanted to say here was that, when I saw your fruit and vegetable chart pictures I noticed "potato" among them. I must tell you that I discovered that this "nasty" little tuber is a true inflamatory food and causes incredible pain in the joints! I discovered this with many different people including myself.
I have eliminated regular potato from my diet, and the pain in my joints is very minimal. It is not the same for the Yam or Sweet Potato, which are wonderful and beneficial foods! Corn, wheat, sugar, and dairy products are also all inflammatory foods. PLEASE try a week without potato for anyone who suffers from arthritis or rhumatism, and see if it doesn't make a big difference!!
Thank you for letting me share this information!
Sara says:Dear Katherine, thank you for your note.
I can understand why you say that the
potato is a "nasty" little tuber. I beg to differ. Allow me to explain.
The "nasty" tuber is really not nasty. Well, it may be "nasty" initially, but it's for a good reason. The potato is one of the best foods to remedy arthritis or rheumatism. It has very high minerals content, potassium and organic salt that are very alkalinizing and detoxifying for a toxic/acidic condition.
Arthritis, rheumatism or gout are all inflammatory condition of the joints. These conditions indicate an extremely high level of toxicity in the body.
When you consume a potato, the highly detoxifying effect gets to work, stirring the toxicity at the joints to transport it for elimination (which could be a good thing, depending on how you look at it). In the process of elimination, you may experience some pain like what you have experienced.
Please also look up this page on the basics of
what can happen when you consume superior food, in this case, the potato! So, on the contrary, the potato is really an
anti-inflammatory food. But I'm not talking about French fries!
Hope this explains.
