Potassium deficiency

by Dawn Dean
(United States of America)

Sara, I loved the info on potassium deficiency. In fact I just got out of hospital tonight because of that. How do I take it, need asap please. Great stuff! Would love more on how to keep the muscles and central nervous system in optimum health.

I have MS/Fibromyalgia and need all the help u have. God Bless you for your help and research. I've pased on to all the people I know.

From Yegyan:

I am sorry to hear about your MS/Fibro. In terms how to take it, food is the best way to take it. All avocados, kale, tomatoes, apple, asparagus, broccoli, celery, lemon/lime, romaine lettuce, grapefruit, kidney beans, crimini mushrooms, salmon, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, beef and watermelon are some foods that are high in potassium and low in sodium.

That is going to be the other factor. You should learn how sodium enters your food and decrease foods that are high in sodium.

So again, I want to stress that replenishing deficiencies in nutrients is only going to be part of the solution. Without solving what is causing the deficiency in the first place, you will be in a constant state of having to replenish yourself.

I would also suggest reading my book. Even for those who do not want to lose weight, it is a powerhouse of a book that shows how the state of your health can be measured by you at home and how to restore it in your kitchen.

I bring this up because if your glands are imbalanced you can have a constant depletion of potassium.

For MS and Fibro, there are a few supplements I want to talk about. One is magnesium and the other is Omega-3 oils. Magnesium relaxes the nerves and also eases pain. "Natural Calm" is a product I recommend only because it is so accessible. Taking magnesium can relax the bowels, so just be aware of this and experiment with what level works for you. A Calcium-Magnesium formula is also a very good supplement to take. Calcium is a mineral that allows muscle fibers to elongate. It is a natural muscle relaxant.

What frustrates me a bit regarding calcium supplementation is that if the calcium is not in an acidic solution, it will not be absorbed by the muscle tissue. This is not considered in the many calcium products. The pH level of the solution should be a 3 or a 4 for the calcium to be absorbable.

So a product like "A to B Calm" is one of a few formulas that has a good ration of calcium and magnesium and it is mixed with ascorbic acid. So when you add it to hot water, the liquid is very acidic. You should feel muscle relaxation right away. The "A to B Calm" is a product you can order and have it shipped to you. I do have an arrangement with the developer of it and will give a discount to people who tell her that I referred you to her. Her name is Sheila and her website is www.calmag.com.

I drink this after every workout and before I sleep.

The second supplement for MS and Fibro is Omega 3. Flaxseed oil is a great source. Take a teaspoon with your meals and try and cut out fats from other sources.

When you buy oil such as flaxseed, make sure it is cold-pressed and that no heat is used in the production of it.

If you are a meat eater, try your best to consume "grass fed" beef and "free range" chickens and eggs. The animals that are bred today with mass production methods are high in fat and the wrong kind of fat. There is negligible Omega-3. Not to mention the synthetic hormones and antibiotics fed to these animals that end up in the meat.

Another supplement for pain management is DLPA. DLPA is an amino acid that I help clients who have or had addictions. The former addictions transferred to food and the food is being used as a drug. DLPA helps increase the endorphin levels.

5-HTP is another amino acid that helps produce serotonin. This I use with clients that are trying to get off anti-depressants. For pain management, using 5-HTP with DLPA has also been helpful with pain.

If your Fibro is causing excessive fatigue in a debilitating way, an excellent product to help with this is Ribogy. You can buy this at www.supplementclinic.com. D-Ribose is a supplement that assists your cells in converting energy within the cells. People with Fibro can have the sister condition of CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) Ribogy has produced very good results with my clients.

I hope this helps you.
