Juicing same veggies and fruit every day

by Lenore McKenzie
(Vancouver, Canada)

I started juicing about 2 weeks ago. I juice once a day and usually I get about 12-16 oz of juice. I put in the same things which are spinach, kale, celery carrots broccoli, 1 apple, carrots, 1 small orange, and a few grapes. The taste is awesome. I have read on other sites that you could become allergic to the veggies and fruits if you juice the same things every day. Is that true?

Thank you.
Lenore

From Sara:

Lenore, you're juicing only once a day and that is not excessive at all. I don't see how you can become allergic to these fruits and vegetables that are so healing. If you eat meat every day, do you think you will get allergic to meat? And meat is far more harmful than your juice. You decide.

Enjoy your juices ... your recipe sounds like a great combination!

Cheers,
Sara

Allergies more noticable now that I juice
by: Debby@pioneervalleygardening in WesterrnMass.

I have been juicing for two weeks and have cleansed my system during the first week. Although I eat several times per day as well, I am sticking to whole foods and raw when I can.

Yesterday Mom brought lunch with her for a pre-florida trip visit: two cans of progresso no MSG soup and cornmuffin mix. I added quinoa and onions to the corn muffins and cooked the soup as directed. It wasnt a wholeminute after consuming this lunch andputting theplate down on the counter before the reaction of a debilitating headache hit me like a baseballbat...it was that sudden. I t reated the headache with dimming the lights and applying a cold compress. Before long I also had a sore throat and a general overall feeling of illness whichput me to bed for the rest of the day.

I read the package on both products and discovered hydrolyzed corn protein (MSG)on both ingredient lists. I have consumed these products many times before and never had a problem. I am very careful with everything I consumed due to the many allerrgies I have and I read all ingredient lists in what others call a fanatical way of life.

I think that by doing a cleanse and juicing for the last two weeks has caused my body to be able to identify non-food (MSG) ingredients in foods more easily and clearly. This morning my lower eye lids and face are puffy and my sinuses are very clogged and that overall sense of malaise hasn't stopped yet. This feeling was temporarily releived with my first cup of juice and I noticed that reactionlast night as well when I juiced different juices in the afternoon and evening.

I am juicing with a variety of juices today to help cleanse my system again and you can beleive me when I say that from now on I will make my soups homemade from the pith of the juicing and whole foods.

I cant wait until gardening starts here in the frozen, snow covered north but until then I can grow kale and other greens in out small greenhouse.

Anyone have pith soup recipes they care to share?

Thanks and what a great site. Blessings, Deb
