Juicing Beets?

by DAVE
(California)

I want to add beets to some of my juicing. I noticed the tops might be good to add to the juicing blend. Are there any advantages or disadvantages to juicing the tops too?

Thanks,
DAVE

From Sara:

Hi Dave,

You're right to add the beets greens to your juicing. The greens have an even higher content of iron compared to spinach. They are also an excellent source of calcium, magnesium, copper, phosphorus, sodium and iron.

However, when storing, do not leave the greens attached to the beets for more than a couple of days as this will dry out the beetroot. Without the greens attached, the beetroot can keep for up to two weeks.

Please also read about the benefits of beetroot here.

Happy juicing !!

Cheers,
Sara
