Joint pains completely gone!

by Angie Rolen
(Tennessee, USA)

I'm juicing for healing of psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. I started in mid April (2010) and I drink about 3/4 of a gallon of juice a day. Plus I changed my diet to a raw diet at the same time. The benefits have been unbelievably amazing. My family and friends are in awe of the difference it has made in me physically and the things I can now do.

When I started juicing, my arthritis was so bad that at times I couldn't even drive. Now I am walking 4 miles a day plus I have started hiking. I've been on 3 five mile hikes ... it has truly been a life-saver for me. I feel as if I have my life back. I know its a lot of juice but I would drink more than that if I could, lol.

I honestly feel better than I've ever felt in my entire life. My energy is out the roof, I always felt like I had brain fog and now my mental clarity is unreal, 99% of the time I have a smile on my face...I'm just happy!! I still have issues with psoriasis and I may always have some issues with it but the joint pain is completely gone. I am off all medication, have not had to have pain meds in over 3 months. Juicing and eating a raw diet is THE most loving thing I've ever done for myself!

Thank you, Angie
by: Sara Ding

Hi Angie, I appreciate and sincerely welcome your sharing. I think it's wonderful what you're doing. Please do continue to share.

My word of caution was meant for other beginners, in case they just jump into a total change, as most beginners are often enthusiastic about getting well. Sometimes they think more means faster and better, but not necessarily the case.

So, well done Angie! Keep up what you're doing and please continue to share. You're a blessing.

;)

Just my experience
by: Angie Rolen

Sara, I am only giving my experience and how juicing and a raw diet has affected me. I'm not in any way qualified to advise someone on what they should or shouldn't do as far as juicing is concerned. Again this is only my personal experience. I'm not advising anyone just sharing my experience. And answering any questions that are asked of me.

Caution: Beginners go slow
by: Sara Ding

Thanks, Angie, for sharing your recovery recipes. While raw is good and juicing is good, there is such a thing as too much ... especially for a beginner. Before you start on going raw and juicing so much, please be aware of your own health condition.

Individuals who have many health issues usually may have problem with their liver as the liver is not functioning as well as it should. In this case, when taking too much juices too soon, it may cause a "shock to the system".

Here's why: Juices and raw food are very detoxifying. When you take too much detoxifying foods (being over-enthusiastic), your body works overtime to detoxify. In the process, it dumps old toxins into your blood system to be eliminated. If elimination is good (e.g. application of coffee enema for liver cleansing) then there is no problem. But, if elimination is sluggish, there may be some "healing reactions" during this time (e.g. you may feel headache, nauseated, limb joints more painful, lethargy, etc.)

For one whose liver and kidney are not able to eliminate the toxins in time, a "liver coma" may happen causing your overworked liver to "give up". This may be extreme cases but my point is, please go slow, especially if you're a beginner and not used to taking juices. Take one or two glasses a day and see how your body respond to it, then slowly increase the amount.

Be blessed! ;)

What I eat...
by: Angie Rolen

Hi Ritchie...no I also eat food. I switched to a raw diet at the same time that I started juicing. I don't limit my food intake...I eat as much as I want as long as it adheres to the raw diet.

I have juiced as much as 3 bunches of kale, 15 carrots, 3 heads of celery and 6 apples in a days time. Sometimes I will throw in some parsley or cilantro depending on what is on sale. I have used swiss chard, spinach and romaine lettuce also but I love the kale and feel as if I get the benefit from the kale.

Of course now that it is winter and I am not as active I am not juicing as much...I've cut back to about a half gallon of juice a day. If I didn't I would have so much energy I couldn't sleep. On days in the summer when I was very active, hiking 5 miles a day, with a lot of climbing, I was juicing 3/4 gallon plus eating a lot of fruits (watermelon, strawberries, bananas, oranges, mangos) and salads (spring salad mix, avocado, tomatoes, celery, carrots, and sometimes sweet peppers), raw almonds, sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds.

I hope this info helps. If you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask...I love talking about juicing/raw diet and what it has done for me.

Psorasis and Psoratic Arthritis
by: Ritchie

One more thing I wanted to ask you is, do you eat anything else or just juice and do you use all of that for just one day? Thanks again for your time.

Forgot to add this....
by: Angie Rolen

Also Ritchie...I mean to say that I was able to do it because once my pain receded I did not want it to come back. The pain I was in was horrible, undescribable really, let me just say I had resigned myself to my life being over. I was alive and I existed but I wasn't living. A life of pain is no life at all. So now its been almost a year and I am still doing great!!

What I juice
by: Anonymous

Hi Ritchie, I started off drinking green smoothies made of kale, bananas and strawberries. My main juice that I have found that works great for my arthritis is kale, carrots, celery and apples. I juice 1 bunch of kale, 1 head of celery, 5-6 carrots and 2-3 apples. I only use organic produce and the difference has been amazing. Hope this is the info you wanted!!
