Is juicing for weight loss to be a meal replacement regimen?
by Jeff

I am almost 50...I have dabbled in juicing before, but I want to venture into it even more so now.
When I juice, am I to juice every meal...or is it not supposed to be a meal replacement? I have not found an answer to this yet. My goal is to lose 20lbs. and then do a maintenance program of some sort.
Thanks,
JEFF
From Sara:Jeff, I must congratulate you for your determination in wanting to lose a certain number of pounds through a healthy and safe way.
There are two ways you can do it:
1) Either by juice fasting (replacing juices with meals); or
2) By reducing on your solid food intake and up your juices intake. During this period, it is very important to avoid
harmful foods for more effective result.
The decision on how to do this really depends on your body and whether you will be able to take juice fasting or not. Of course with juice fasting, the result will be faster.
First of all, please read this article about
healthy weight loss but do not limit yourself to the juices suggestion listed. Be creative and include in your juicing, what's available in season in your area, always taking care to drink more vegetable than fruit juices.
Read also about meal replacements that you can do with
delicious smoothies for weight watchers, replacing one or two meals, depending on how your body manage, should you decide to still take solid food.
Please learn more about
safe fasting here, to see if juice fasting is for you. You could probably start with short fasts, gradually leading to longer fasts.
Most importantly, have fun while trying to lose weight. Don't force your body by going cold turkey if you are not used to drinking juices.
Do write back to tell us how you're doing!
