I have just started juicing, I have a Jack Lelane juicer. Is that ok for now?

Cantaloupe rind

I want to know if juicing once a day (in the morning) ok? Just to start, because I don't really want to lose any weight. I have a hepatitis problem I believe its just a mild one at the moment, but I also have a degenerative disc problem in my back. Thats why I wanted to start juicing. I thought it might be the best thing I can do right now to get fast results. Thank you.

Oh one more question, can you put cantaloupe rind in the gear juicer?

Buford

Sara says:

Dear Buford, drinking juices once a day is definitely ok. It's even ok if you drink it three or four times a day, as long as you're comfortable with it. It's good to spread out the amount of juice for throughout the day, at about 200-250ml each time. Drinking more at a time doesn't mean better.

On your question about the cantaloupe rind, yes, you can put cantaloupe rind into a gear juicer, as in it would not break the gear juicer. I think there may be some minerals in the rind, but I can't be sure. We don't usually include the rind in juicing as bacteria can easily reside in the netted rind.

Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver. Since you say it's a "mild one" at the moment, you know that a condition is beginning. Do begin to change your lifestyle and eating habits from now, before it gets worse. Without care, it can get worse very rapidly. Learn to eat less acidic foods (meat, dairy products, processed foods, etc.) and step-up on more alkaline foods (fresh fruits and vegetables). Beetroot and watercress juices are some of the best liver cleansing foods.

If you want to learn more about having a healthy liver, I recommend you read this eye-opening book by Andreas Moritz: The Liver and Gallbladder Miracle Cleanse

Happy juicing!
