I can't get my seeds to sprout

I bought organic wheat sprouting seeds online. I have done everything you said but I can't get the seeds to sprout.
I have 1 cup of seeds at a time in a large mason jar on the kitchen counter. They don't need to be dark do they? And use cool water, right? I soak them for 8 -12 hours, rinse and change water, repeat 2 more times, but after 24-32 hours no sprouts on seeds. Once I continued to do this for 4 days and the seeds just went bad. Do some seeds just not sprout or am I doing something wrong?
I am growing wheat grass for my guinea pigs and try to start a new batch every couple days.
I have been using vermiculite, but battle white mold and wondering if that is not helping. I am now using seed starter for this batch (I can't get the Eco-compost you recommend from Home Depot right now, it's out of season) and have a small fan set up to gently blow on seeds to try to keep mold down. I also can't find the Azomite you recommend either.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

To be honest, it sounds like you did everything right! I've never come across any time that the seeds don't sprout after soaking it like you did. I'm at a loss! ;) You're using a mason jar - I hope you didn't put on the cover? (Just checking!). Try using a basin instead. If this fails, maybe try the seeds from a local health store?
I'll put up your question here anyway, and see if anyone else has encountered this problem and has a solution/answer to it.
