How to Juice Broccoli

Hi Sara, I'm having a hard time drinking broccoli juice. The taste is so potent. I'm mixing it with large amounts of carrot juice, yet to no avail...yuck. I'm committed to making this work though as I know broccoli juice is extremely good for you. Do you have any suggestions?

Sara says:

Garrett, indeed broccoli juice is an extremely beneficial juice for preventing cancer, and for improving general health. However, it is very potent and even bitter or unpalatable to drink.

What I would usually do is to improve on the broccoli juice taste. We don't drink the broccoli juice neat. :) They are very potent, so you don't need to use a lot either.

I suggest this recipe:
- 2 or 3 spears of broccoli (you can increase this over time)
- 2 medium-sized carrots
- 2 green apples
- 1 rib of celery (optional)
- 1-inch young ginger (optional)
- 1/2 a small lemon (with peel)
Makes a big glass of about 500-600ml.
(Note: Juice tastes much better if using a gear juicer.)

Best to use organic broccoli and prepare the broccoli properly to prevent contamination. The florets may hide some germs and small insects. I prepare it by soaking them for about 10-20 minutes, in a small basin of clean water with some sea salt and apple cider vinegar.

Enjoy your broccoli juice!
