How to Juice Bitter Guord (Melon)

by Rozina
(Glen Allen VA, USA)

My husband has diabetes and we Indians believe bitter guord juice is very effective in controlling diabetes, so how do i give him.

From Sara:

Indeed bitter gourd/melon juice is highly effective in lowering one's blood sugar level.

For this purpose, use the smaller variety and choose those that are not too dark green. The lighter-colored ones are less bitter as they are riper. Keep bitter melons wrapped up in a plastic bag and store in the fridge up to 3-4 days.

Slice the melon length-wise and remove the seeds. Then cut it to smaller pieces to fit your juicer feed. Drink about 3-4 ounce every day and you should be seeing an improvement in about 2-3 weeks.

Drink this regularly and try to avoid high intake of sugar in food, reduce meat, fried foods and eat more raw vegetables.
