how many oz of vegetable or fruit juice should be drank a day to lower LDL?

by Trish Shotton
(Australia)

Recently new to juicing. I needed to reduce my total cholesterol and triglycerides counts and raise my HDL while lowering my LDL as I was diagnosed as pre diabetic.

I bought a twin gear juicer which I find to be excellent. I was juicing fruits to start with but because of the higher sugar content I am now juicing mainly vegies. I quite like these juices but wonder how much of it I should be consuming on a daily basis?

From Sara:

Trish, you may drink as much juices as you can comfortably drink (not forced). Some ingredients for juices that might be suitable for you are: carrots (yes), green apples, spinach, bitter gourds/melons, celery, cucumbers, wheatgrass, tomatoes, capsicums, grapefruit.

To effectively help lower your LDL and increase your HDL, you might want to consider taking Vitamin B3 (Niacin) as a supplement. Check with your nutritionist for safe dosage. I have found that 50mg taken twice a day with meal helps.
