Again, be sure that you are generally healthy before embarking on a juice fast. (Check who should not fast.) If you have not done juice fasting before, try a one-day fast to start with. If you do well, try two days, then three days and slowly increasing up to five days. When a five-day juice fast becomes a breeze for you, then attempt to stretch yourself further to seven, ten, 14, 21 and 30 days. Even fasts up to 40 days is possible and isn't really that difficult once you master the first few days of hunger pangs. Prolonged fasts are especially beneficial for the body to have the uninterrupted time of real cleansing and healing. Many diseases can also be reversed after a successful long fast. During the first few days of a juice fast, your body is working to rid your body of excess toxins and wastes, which is why you lose some weight. Then your weight-loss slow down, and healing work begins as you continue to take in precious nutrients and enzymes through juice fasting. Pains and aches may strike whether you're at the beginning or at the end of your fast. The idea is to be aware that your body is doing a cleansing work, so just sit back and wait it out. Curiously, it is usually not because of these aches that people end their fasts, but more because they cannot resist temptation or the cravings of food. Tell yourself at the beginning of each day that you're going to make it through the day and will say no to food. It helps.
