How long does it take to make a glass of juice?

This question was asked on the Juicing For Health Facebook page and we get answers like from 5 minutes to 45 minutes! Depending on what juicer you use and what you juice, it does affect the amount of time spent juicing. When looking to buy a juicer, it's important to take into consideration, the ease of assembly, handling and washing up. If cleaning up is too time-consuming, you might soon lose interest with juicing. Let's hear what fellow juicers say ... How much time do you spend making a glass of juice, from assembling the juicer, cutting up the produce, juicing, till washing up?
- 20 mins prep ... 10 minutes juicing ... my husband cleans up.
- 20-30 minutes ... but worth it =)
- Too long! I'm trying to find a more efficient way to do it but I always wind up spending longer than I'd like to doing it. I won't "out" the crappy juicer that I have but I think that's the reason it takes so long.
- 20 min or so ... as I drink I clean up ... oh, fyi, best thing that will cut cleaning time is to use those produce bags to collect the pulp/extras ... sometimes the pulp makes great veggie patties (all depends on what you juiced earlier). Try it ... take the pulp, put it in a bowl, add some seasoning and bread crumbs/panko make them into patties ... NO WASTE.
- 15-30 minutes, that's what makes me lazy into not juicing every day anymore, just thinking about all the hassle of washing fruits and veggies and especially washing the entire juicer after I'm done, ugh!
- 15 mins from start till it's all cleaned up.
- About 15 mins ... but if I can't take out that time for my health then something is wrong ... so worth it.
- 5-10 mins. I have a system now.
- I guess I don't look at it as being any different than cooking a meal - and there aren't many of those you can do in less than 30 minutes ...
- A little longer for me. My Omega 8006 is slow but I get the chance to cut-up my fruits and veggies while feeding them in its small chute. So about 45 minutes but so worth it.
- The day I buy the produce, which is once a week, I bring it home and wash it in the sink of warm water, vinegar and peroxide. I lay it out on a towel to air dry and then put them in gallon size plastic bags to put in the fridge ... this cuts down the time during the week of actually juicing and it takes me about 10 minutes to wash my juicer and I leave it out to dry before reassemble.
- 15-20 minutes tops. Beats greasy clean up any day, with waaaay bigger payoff. Anyone whining about this just doesn't get it.
- Usually about 15-20 mins and easily 30 mins if making super green smoothies. A meal in a glass but this doesn't mean less prepping time I'm afraid, haha. NO greasy dishes to wash up at least!
- 30 mins ... In need of a better machine, too much time in cutting everything.
- It depends on what I'm juicing. Some items are more labor-intensive, such as carrots, parsnips, cantaloupe, watermelon, and grapefruit. These require peeling, washing, and cutting, so they take a little extra time to prepare. Other items, such as apples and pears, are easier, as I simply wash and cut those, while celery and ginger require only washing. On average, I take about 30 minutes from prep to reassembly of the machine.
- 10 minutes. Love my machine!
- 30 minutes for a day's worth of juice.
- Took us 30 minutes this morning. I like the idea of putting a produce bag in the pulp collector. That would save on rinsing that out every time. Tonight I'm going to organize and cut up all of my veggies and put them in individual bags. Then in the morning all I'll have to do is cut up the fruits :)
- Btw, what is all this i hear about peeling? even if its not organic just wash properly and leave the skin on.
- 10-15 mins usually. Takes forever on Mondays.
- Emulsifiers ROCK! - 10 minutes at the most! Clean up is a breeze! No waste (except the stuff you have to peel). Recently took our Emulsifier on a 17-day road trip and used it each and every day. For those who have to travel for business, most hotels provide fruit in the morning. It was easier than I thot it would be. :)
- 15 minutes at the most. We have the Hurom juicer and love it.
- 9 minutes from choosing my fruits & veggies to sitting down with my juice and a clean juicer ready for next time. - Jack Lalane really old juicer.
- With my new Breville juicer it took me 15 min TOTAL!
- 45 mins, to wash veggies, bottle juice, and then clean up. But I do like 80 oz of juice.
- I love to juice but absolutely HATE cleaning the juicer, any suggestions please??
- 5-10 mins. I clean as I go ... and don't drink until it's clean ... it doesn't take very long to rinse everything off.
- 10-15 minutes, and I am usually preparing juice for several people. Not nearly as long as it takes to cook a SAD meal and clean up from that!
- 5 minutes with breville.
- Come on, 5 minutes!? Takes longer than that to clean that pesky equipment alone.
- I'm embarrassed to say that it takes me a while, partly cause I tend to move with slow deliberation & partly cause I have about 8 different components in my juice and it takes more prep time as a result. It prob takes me about 45 mins.
- I run a couple quick cups of water through my Omega Vert after I'm done juicing and it really helps with final clean up.
- Less than 20 minutes. That's what we love about the Breville juicer: it cleans up in a flash!
- 20-39 minutes. It's therapeutic.
- You're supposed to clean it?! LOL! 10 mins max!!
- I prep ahead of time and keep a mini trash bag in my canister so that cuts my time down to about 5-7 minutes.
- I have gotten it down to 10min everything washed juiced and as I clean the juicer I drink my juice!
