Has anyone experienced pink staining in sweat after drinking beet juice?

by Susan
(Scottsdale, AZ)

Had a drink made with a Vitamix so all pulp was in the drink. Beets was one of the main components. After a round of golf in hot temperature, my sweat left a pink/red stain in the armpit area and along the underbra area where I perspired heavily. Has anyone experienced this before or am I consuming too much of the beet juice?

From Sara:

Susan, I've certainly not experienced that, but only because I have not been drinking much beetroot juice before going under the sun! But "pink sweat" is definitely possible, just as your urine may be pink too after a drink of beetroot juice.

You didn't mention how much beetroot you put in your drink, but even juice from one medium sized beetroot may have produced this effect.

If you're a beginner with beetroot juice, half a medium size a week should be sufficient as they are very potent. If you're used to beetroot, drinking the juice from one medium sized once or twice a week should be enough.
