Hands turned yellow from drinking carrot juice?

by Amy
(United States)

My hands become noticeably yellowish after drinking vegetable juice mixed with carrot (2-3 piece), celery and apple for about 6 months (about 5 times per week).

Did I take too much of carrot? Should I stop taking carrot in order to get rid of the yellow color? How long does it take for the yellow color to disappear after stoping carrot?

Thanks.

From Sara:

Dear Amy,

The "yellowish" color on your skin is nothing to be alarmed about. It is an overflow of materials which have been clogging the liver and are being eliminated with the consumption of carrot juice. This shows how effective carrot juice is at cleansing--a good sign that the system is getting a good clean-up.

2-3 pieces of carrot a day is not very much if you are generally healthy without any liver or kidney problems. Just continue to do what you are doing and drink plenty of fluids.

Also check what's the minimum amount of water you should drink in a day, on top of your juices.

God bless.
