Eating fruits and veggies whole

Isn't just eating all of these fruits and vegetables in their whole, raw, un-juiced form just as beneficial? How is juicing then adding the pulp back in any different than eating it whole?
Before juicers and all the fried, processed foods we have today didn't people just eat whole organic foods? Also, I've heard that some vegetables like carrots are better cooked than raw?
I've read that you don't like milk ... do you feel the same about organic cows milk?
Sara says:Hi Amber, thank you for asking very good questions. ;) These are valid questions and I get asked of them a lot.
First of all, there is no where on my site that says eating whole, raw and unjuiced fruits and vegetables are not beneficial. I totally believe in eating them whole for their fiber and other healing virtues. In fact, I love eating them whole and raw, and do every day.
I agree with you that before juicers, people eat whole organic fruits. But here are the differences between people THEN (before juicers) and people NOW:
People THEN (before juicers):
- Eat whole fruits that are NOT polluted with agricultural chemicals and pesticides.
- Don't eat so much processed foods
- Work the farm (exercise) - healthier
People NOW:
- Have to contend with fruits that are polluted with agricultural chemicals and pesticides. Organic costs too much. This is where I propose gear juicers that can minimize pesticides and chemicals.
- Eat a lot of processed foods. Their gastrointestinal tracts are clogged up with mucoid plaques, therefore, absorption of enzymes and nutrients from fresh raw foods are reduced to a very small percentage (ineffective). This group of people will have to eat pounds of fresh raw fruits and vegetables before they get their minimum RDA. How many people nowadays really even eat five portions a day as suggested to be healthy? For this group of people (and it's a large majority of people) juicing makes it easier for absorption of enzymes and nutrients. Only with juicing (at least a glass of juice every day) can most people hope to have at least their five portions a day. This site is about juicing for HEALTH. Drinking juices helps to speed up healing.
- Don't exercise - unhealthy
One other reason for drinking juices is that, for modern people's health that are already deteriorating, juices is the only way to flood (hydrate) the system with plenty enzymes and nutrients that will help repair damaged cells, heal and nourish. They have much to catch up on after years of eating processed foods and living unhealthy lifestyles. Juices help speed up their healing. This is what we want to achieve. After all, how many whole apples and how many whole carrots can one eat a day, and for how long?
I agree that there are some vegetables that are more beneficial cooked than raw. One of the better examples are tomatoes. However, I've not heard that carrots are better eaten cooked than raw. Fruits and vegetables lose their enzymes and nutrients when cooked. If you have to cook your vegetables, lightly cook them. Overcooked vegetables do more harm to your intestinal tract than good.
Your final question about cow's milk: It's not that I don't like milk, it's that I WON'T take cow's milk as it is one of the most mucus-forming foods that does more harm than good. Organic cow's milk does the same thing. This is due to the composition and structure of cow's milk that makes it unsuitable for human consumption. For me, the only time
it's safe to take organic cow's milk is when it's made into yogurt. One other (best) healthy option is organic colostrum (I take this daily).
I hope the above explains your questions.
