If someone is suffering from stomach ulcer, but he loves fruits and vegetables, can he or she go ahead juicing?
Sara says:Stomach ulcer is due to over-acidity, caused by an increase of hydrochloric acid in the stomach, secreted by the stomach lining that erodes and burn a hole in the stomach walls.
Overeating and taking heavy meals, consuming much spicy foods, alcohol, coffee and smoking contributes to this condition. Other causes are anti-inflammatory drugs that are harsh like aspirin, infections, prolonged stress and nervousness.
Begin to avoid the causes mentioned above to allow healing and at the same time eat or drink juices of fruits and vegetables that are mild and kind to the stomach. Examples are banana, carrot, cabbage, melons. Avoid citrus fruits during this time.
Basically, most vegetable juices are rich in potassium which are alkaline in nature. These are safe to be drunk by people with stomach ulcers and will promote healing.
