Bowel movement

Hi, I have trouble with constipation and have had everything on the market but when I do have a bowel motion I then feel quite nauseous. I seem to have a very sensitive bowel do you suggest any thing ... thanking you. Patricia

Patricia, to ease constipation problem, you will need to have a change in your dietary and lifestyle. Chronic constipation and lack of bowel movements are due to drinking insufficient fluids, a sedentary lifestyle and faulty dietary that is made of processed foods, meat and one that lacks fiber.

In order to relieve constipation, you will have to first of all eliminate processed foods from your dietary (foods that have long shelf life, come in nice packagings that you buy from supermarkets). Also avoid dairy products and flour products (cakes, bread, doughnuts, pizzas, etc.). These are the kind of foods that cause constipation.

Secondly, you need to begin by drinking plenty fluids (at least 2-3 liters a day, more if you can). Add to that, juices of carrot, green apple and green vegetables, about a liter a day to help flush out the intestines. Slowly increase the amount depending on how your body responds to this superior food.

Besides drinking juices, begin to cut down also on your meat intake and increase on fruits and vegetables (raw is best) for fiber and roughage. Ideally, your food portion should be 80% vegetables and 20% meat and others. This change has to become a lifestyle.

Another food that can help you ease constipation problem is probiotics that you can also get from yogurt. This will repopulate your intestines with beneficial bacteria that help with your digestion and elimination.

Finally, walking is good exercise for "massaging" the colon to help to move bowels.

This may seem like a long list of things to do to ease constipation, but they are all so crucial. Your colon health determines your overall health. A sluggish and clogged up colon will cause you more health problems in the long run if it is not remedied.
