Allergic to Fruits

by Yashong
(USA)

Hi Sara, thank you for answering my questions so promptly last time. I have a few more questions for you.

Both of my children, ages 16 and 14, complain of throat itching and on rare occasions, lip swelling when they eat most fruits regardless whether they are organic or peeled off first. They have had issues with fruit cakes and smoothies as well.

However, they seem to tolerate processed juices such as Apple juice from concentrate and 100% Tropicana Orange juice.

Do you have a sense of which element of the fruit they can be allergic to? Do you have any anti-allergy juicing recipe to desensitize them and hopefully counteract those side effects. My wife and I started juicing for health a few days ago. We feel that the children could benefit from that as well.

Thank you.
Yashong

Sara says:

Hello again, Yashong. From your description, it sounds like your children may have what is known as Oral Allergy Syndrome (OAS). You can google that and learn more about it.

First of all, food allergies happen because of a very toxic body that result from a sluggish digestive system. Poor and faulty dietary habits (i.e. overeating, eating between meals, eating heavy meals in the evenings, high animal protein diet, medications) cause the digestive juices/enzymes/flora to be depleted. When this happens, ingested foods are not properly/fully digested.

Undigested foods putrefy and ferment in the digestive system and becomes a constant source of harmful microbial activity that may lead to various health problems. Some undigested foods get absorbed into the blood system causing thickening of the blood and toxic saturation.

This is a classic cause of chemical imbalance in the body. One of the consequences is food allergies, and in the case of your children, allergy to fruits. They have probably developed a sensitivity to certain proteins in fruits. Another possibility is sensitivity to salicylates (natural immune hormone and preservatives in plant foods). Due to low immunity, over time, the situation may just get worse.

Your children can tolerate fruits that have been processed, i.e. pickled, fermented, cooked, baked, pasteurized, heated, etc. These activities "denaturalize" (breaks down) the proteins/salicylates, thus do not cause a reaction. So fresh fruits are off limits for them.

A series of eliminating/detoxification programs (fasting, colonics, enemas) usually help to reduce the body toxicity and make them more able to tolerate these offensive substances. But, if these are not an option (as with most people), try juice feasting instead. Are they allergic to vegetables? If not, they can start with green juice feasting.

Green juices are very hydrating and healing. They are the best blood cleansers, repair damaged cells, heal and nourish. In the process, they clean out toxins that have been suffocating the body cells that cause toxicity of the blood and chemical imbalance.

Healing does not take place overnight. But drinking green juices regularly over time will begin to improve their condition, their immunity system and their overall health.

Please refer to some of the best healing foods on this page, under vegetables. With green juices, you may also add green apples and lemons/limes. Try a little each time and see how their body respond/react and adjust accordingly.

Also visit your local health store and enquire about high quality digestive enzymes supplement and probiotics. Put them on a course of these to help them with their digestion and manage healthy eating habits.

They may be avoiding fruits for now, but I'm more concerned about signs of their deteriorating health if something is not done now. Do write back and let us know how it goes.

All the best!

Sara

First let me thank Yashong, for sharing your story and Sara for responding and have this site.

I suffer from the same issues Mr. Yashong explained. My biggest concern is, will juicing make my situation worse? Sara, after reading your response I know how to start the process. I have one of the worst immune systems, and low iron and my skin, nails, and body are just in terrible shape at the age of 35. I'm on my way to a healthier living and better outlook on life!!!

Thank You again!
Ms. Amor
