After harvesting wheatgrass, what do I do with the soil?

by Tori
(Gilbert, AZ)

I'm just in the researching phase of growing wheatgrass for my family, and was wondering what to do with the soil once all the wheatgrass has been harvested from the tray. Can I dump it in my compost bin, or will the grass try to continue to grow? Or am I to re-use the soil somehow? Thank you, Tori.

Sara says:

Hi Tori,

If you used organic soil (recommended), you may let the wheatgrass continue to grow after the first harvest. You may reuse the soil once or twice more. After the third round harvesting, most soil nutrients would have been depleted. Then start over with new batch of organic soil.
