Acme 5001 Supreme Juicerator Juicer Review
This model is a product of Waring, maker of commercial-kitchen appliances, also called the Induction Model because of its 550-watt vibration-free induction motor. Its design is pretty ordinary, nothing fancy. As in most centrifugals in this range, its housing is plastic (polycarbonate) with stainless steel strainer basket and blades. Advantages: -
Quality build: This machine is a product of Waring, the maker of quality commercial-kitchen appliances so the product quality can be trusted. This model has been in the market many years but has stood the test of time and is still going strong. -
Heavy: At about 13lbs (~6kg), this juicer is rather heavy for a centrifugal juicer. It can be an advantage as it reduces the juicer from "walking" and vibration-free while in operation. But can be a disadvantage if you like your juicer to be portable. -
Citrus attachment: This model comes with an optional citrus attachment (retailing at ~$60) which is an innovative feature. When attached, the machine can be reduced to a low 300 RPM when juicing only citrus fruits. This is useful if you like to make citrus juices and it does the work well by squeezing them really dry. -
Juice yield: For a centrifugal juicer, this Acme 5001 somehow gives a higher juice yield compared to many other decent brands in the market. Disadvantages: -
Small chute: As this is an old model, the chute is rather small, so you'll have to cut up your fruits/vegetables into smaller size to fit the opening. -
Small spout: A small spout also makes juices being expelled a little slower. -
Noisy: It is a high-speed spinning juicer so is naturally loud. -
Juicing vegetables: It can do big chunky vegetables like celery or cucumber, but doesn't get much juice out of leafy vegetables. -
Cleaning: Due to its "closed-in" design, the juicer is a little bit difficult to clean so washing up takes time. Something to seriously consider when looking to buy a juicer. -
Pricey: At just a little under $200, I do think this machine is rather expensive, but then again it's a quality Waring product. Consider investing a little more to get a gear juicer that is easy to operate and one that preserves the enzymes and nutrients. Motor Power: 550 watts RPM: 3,600 Weight: 13 pounds (~6kg) Dimensions: H12.5 x W10 x D10 inches Warranty: 5-year on motor Price: From US$188 BUY: Acme 5001 Supreme Juicerator
