JUICY NEWS, Issue # 09/08 - Stay Healthy This Festive Season November 08, 2008 |
ISSUE # 09/08 (November 2008)JUICY NEWS is a bi-monthly free newsletter brought to you by Juicing-for-Health.com. You are receiving this newsletter because you have opted in at our Newsletter Subscription Page. OR, you have previously made contact with Juicing-for-Health.com for one reason or another. Dear Friend, Nov-Dec is the best time of the year for me as it is a stress-free time, it is school holidays and a season of celebrations ... Thanksgiving, Christmas ... and welcoming the New year.
We tend to over-indulge during these festive periods, and in the New Year we start making resolutions to lose weight. Isn't this a common problem we face year after year? Why not just maintain our healthful self by choosing your food and beverage wisely ... even while partying.
REMINDER:
Tip # 1 Where possible, always choose fresh juices over alcohol or soft drinks. Not only are alcohol and soft drinks damaging to your liver, they also suppress your appetite for the nutritious foods.
Tip # 2 Remember to always eat fruits and vegetables before food. Dessert after food doesn't do well for your digestive tract as the "softer" food will sit on your solid food, causing the softer food to ferment before it has a chance to be digested. This leads to toxicity in the system.
Tip # 3 Reduce on your meat intake. Meat takes too long to digest and causes extra stress to the digestive system. It also wipes out your intestinal flora that may lead to other digestive problems later. For protein substitute, take fish, beans, lentils, bean curd and whole grains instead. Even carrot juice contains protein, who says you need to get protein from meat?
Tip # 4 Avoid the five whites - take sparingly if you must: salt, sugar, flour, corn starch, white rice (brown unpolished rice is better). These five whites are so processed that they have become nutrient deficient. Recently, the dairy products have been added to the list of whites to be avoided (except yogurt).
Tip # 5 Watch out for trans-fats from foods cooked in hydrogenated vegetable oil. If these cannot be avoided, counter it by taking your omega 3 in the form of flaxseed oil (best) or fish oil extracts.

Arm yourself with the juicer recipes below during these festive seasons. You may not personally need them, but you might know of others who would need them. Keep this email handy for reference later:
Juicer Recipes for Some Common
Health Problems
Hangover - A hangover happens mainly because of the toxicity of the alcohol and dehydration in the blood. By addressing these two issues, you can easily banish the hangover symptoms.
Common cold and flu - We tend to let our immune system down when we overindulge in food during partying, with lack of proper care in nutrition intake and rest. If you feel a cold coming, try these recipes, nip it in the bud, and prevent it coming on full fledge.
High blood pressure - Too much of the wrong kind of food quickly cause blood pressure to go up. Uncontrolled high blood pressure will increase the risks of aneurysm, heart failure, heart attack, kidney damage and stroke.
Constipation - Too much running around, taking processed foods that are high in fats and low in fiber, not drinking enough water and juices, all lead to constipation. Start your day with some anti-constipation juices to prepare yourself for healthy days ahead.
