Recently I hear an increasing number of people complaining of their very high blood pressure and unhealthily high cholesterol level.  Living in a city and eating out most of the time, I'm not surprised that more and more people are struggling with many health problems.

Most of us know that celery juice can significantly and naturally lower the blood pressure.  But recent studies has revealed that celery juice has many more health benefits than we really know about.

And I am just amazed with the wonder of God's creation, packing so much into this green plant.  Celery is one of the few vegetables that actually have natural sodium.

Unlike table salt that is harmful for people with

high blood pressure, the sodium in celery is totally safe for the consumption of even those who are salt-sensitive. 

 

Here are the highlights of only some of the many health benefits of celery:

Acidity: The important minerals in this magical juice effectively balance the body's blood pH, neutralizing acidity.

Cancer: Celery is known to contain at least eight families of anti-cancer compounds.  Among them are the acetylenics that have been shown to stop the growth of tumor cells. Phenolic acids which block the action of prostaglandins that encourage the growth of tumor cells.  And coumarins which help prevent free radicals from damaging cells.

Cholesterol: This humble pale juice has been shown to effectively and significantly lower total cholesterol and LDL (bad) cholesterol.

Cooling: During dry and hot weather, drink a glass of celery juice two or three times a day, between meals. It wonderfully helps to normalize body temperature.

Kidney function: Celery promotes healthy and normal kidney function by aiding elimination of toxins from the body. While eliminating toxins, it also prevents formation of kidney stones.

Lower blood pressure: Drinking celery juice every day for a week significantly helps lower blood pressure. A compound called phtalides help relax the muscle around arteries, dilating the vessels and allowing blood to flow normally. To be effective, drink the juice for one week, stop for three weeks, and start over.

SUPER DETOX JUICE RECIPE

This is a very simple detox juice that not only tastes good, but also gives the body a good clean-up.  Tastes especially good if juiced with a gear juicer.

 

- 2 medium-large carrots

- 2 green apples

- 2 ribs of celery

 

Drink regularly, especially if you have high blood pressure or cholesterol problems.

 

 

JUICY TIP:

 

Leave your juice extractor on your kitchen counter-top as a reminder to yourself to juice daily.  It's also convenient when you want to juice (which should be often), reducing the hassle of taking it in and out of the cupboard. 

 

Be proud of being a "juicer" (as in a person who juices).  The display of your juicer will be a topic of conversation when a guest comes a-visiting, allowing you to spread the goodness of drinking juices ... and to share a glass of nature's goodness.
