ISSUE # 05/08 (March 2008)JUICY NEWS is a bi-monthly free newsletter brought to you by Juicing-for-Health.com. You are receiving this newsletter because you have opted in at our Newsletter Subscription Page. In February, the Lunar New Year (Chinese New Year) was being celebrated rather grandly where I am. Besides the abundance of food surrounding this celebration, fruits were also found in abundance, more so than any other time of the year. During this time, the Mandarin oranges were sold and given away by the boxes. I personally received four boxes of oranges from various well-wishers. And we're talking about 30-40 oranges in a box! Have you ever eaten so many oranges in your whole life? J Most of what I received were given away but plenty also were eaten and juiced.
the fruit in totality, together with all the other healthful properties combined that works synergistically to combat sicknesses. That's the kind of nutritional power you can find only in the way God has made our natural food.
Here are the highlights of only some of the many health benefits of oranges: Arteriosclerosis: Regularly consuming vitamin C retards the development of hardening of the arteries. Cancer prevention: A compound in oranges called liminoid, has been found to help fight cancers of the mouth, skin, lung, breast, stomach and colon. The high vitamin C content also acts as a good anti-oxidant that protects cells from damages by free radicals. Constipation: Even though the orange "tastes acidic", it actually has an alkaline effect in the digestive system and helps stimulate the digestive juices, relieving constipation. Damaged sperms, repair: An orange a day is sufficient for a man to keep his sperms healthy. Vitamin C, an anti-oxidant, protects sperms from genetic damage that may cause a birth defect. Immune system: The strong content of vitamin C stimulates white cells to fight infection, naturally building a good immune system. Skin: The anti-oxidant in orange help protects the skin from free radical damage known to cause signs of aging.
For a full understanding of this
wonderful fruit, and important cautionary notes, see the
Health Benefits of Oranges. Orange juice goes really well with many juices. Here's a juice recipe that I've found to particularly taste good. The high content of vitamin C and flavonoids help improve your immune system:
- 1 pear (preferably Chinese pear) - 1 red apple - 1 navel orange - 1/4 lemon (juiced together with the peel)
Juice and drink fresh.
JUICY TIP:
When juicing, line the pulp bin/container with a plastic bag so that you save on washing the bin, thus saving time. Rinse all parts of your juicer under running water immediately after use to prevent bacterial proliferation from mold growth. Use a cleaning brush or an old toothbrush to brush the filter screens and those hard to reach corners.
BI-MONTHLY QUOTE: } To
ensure good health, eat lightly, breathe deeply, live moderately,
cultivate cheerfulness, and maintain an interest in life. ~
