ISSUE # 04/08 (January 2008)JUICY NEWS is a bi-monthly free newsletter brought to you by Juicing-for-Health.com. You are receiving this newsletter because you have opted in at our Newsletter Subscription Page. Dear Friend, HAPPY NEW YEAR to you! I don't know about you, but each new year I just simply look forward to doing new things and doing things in new ways. I love December as it was the school holidays here, where there are no cares in the world (for me at least). It's a month that I go for my annual vacation, and it's a time of celebration right into the new year. This means that I tend to overeat and in the process, thickened the waistline. If you have also been celebrating like me, your new year's resolution may be "to lose some extra pounds". Let me suggest to you that you CAN actually lose some weight with juicing.
more effective when you drink the juices of a combination of fruits and vegetables. And when you drink at least one big glass of juice (more vegetables) a day, you will find it easier to achieve your weight loss goal in a shorter period, coupled with healthy eating.
Besides assisting to hasten weight loss, here are some other highlights of the many health benefits of a grapefruit:
Acidity: Although grapefruit has a sub-acid taste, its juice actually has an alkaline reaction after digestion. This has a profound effect in the treatment of acidity in the digestive system that causes a host of other health problems.
Atherosclerosis: Pectin in this fruit has been found to be effective in reducing the accumulation of arterial deposits, and the vitamin C helps to strengthen and maintain the elasticity of arteries.
Diabetes: A diabetic can safely eat a grapefruit. In fact, more consumption of this fruit will help reduce the starches and sweets in the system. If you have a tendency towards diabetes, consume more grapefruit juice to prevent it.
Fatigue: At the end of a long and tiring day, drink a glass of grapefruit juice with lemon juice in equal parts with a little honey, to dispel all fatigue and tiredness.
Sore throat: Drinking a freshly-squeezed grapefruit juice helps relieve sore throats and soothes coughs. For a full understanding of this wonderful fruit, and important cautionary notes, see the Health Benefits Of Grapefruit.
Please read the cautionary notes on who cannot take grapefruit juice before you go stock up on grapefruits. Here's a treat recipe that you can easily make, to help you reach your weight loss goal:
- 3 medium-large sized carrots - 1/2 grapefruit - 1/2 medium-sized beetroot (only once a week) - 2 ribs of celery - 1/2 cucumber cut lengthwise - 1/4 lemon (if using gear juicer, put in with peel) - 1-inch ginger (optional, for that extra bite)
Juice all these together and drink
fresh. Twice a day if you can, or at least once daily in the morning.
JUICY TIP:
Keep a little juicing notebook where you jot down everything about your juicing experience. Write what juice you drink, how it makes you feel, your favorite recipes, new recipes, etc.
In this little notebook also, enter where you buy your fruits, how much they cost and the quality of the fruits. This will be a good reference so that you know which stall at the market (amongst many) to buy a certain item. For example, which stall sells the best or cheapest carrots or beetroots, etc.
